​About Caroline 

Caroline Navarro is a Lisbon-based international artist with affiliations in Guernsey, Malta, Sydney, Holland and the Balearic Islands. Renowned for her live 'in-action' painting style, Caroline has enjoyed an explosive journey into the European classical and contemporary art and design scene in recent years. Caroline has exhibited worldwide for over 20 years admired by many!
Capturing moments 'en plein air' or onboard a sailing yacht, I paint the world around me as I see it! Being in the moment, recreating a scene brings much excitement to my work, which is illustrated through my choice of vibrant acrylics and energetic brushstroke. I like to begin my work outdoors on a ready coloured canvas, the first step is a lively charcoal sketch before the first layer of paint is applied. It's all about capturing every sense of the moment! The performance of painting on site whether it be at the start of a sailing yacht regatta, a historical site or capturing a beautiful scene adds to the energy so evident in my work. It also offers a fun factor to the audience present who often like to interact

Gallery Preview

Plans for 2022

Plans for 2022 include a show in Brussels, part of a collective for the festivities of Gouda's 750 Anniversary and Covid Collective Exhibition with the Lisbon Artist Circle. Caroline will also be painting a mural in the entrance of brand new avante-garde restaurant Casa Cabana, in Lisbon in the Spring. This years focus will be on painting the nude through longer poses which Caroline will be hosting in her new studio in Lisbon, she will be inviting a few fellow artists to join. Caroline hopes to be part of Lisbon Art Weekend happening this May.

Caroline's Life Drawings

Caroline will be exhibiting her nude drawings at the BS Art Gallery in Lisbon on between the 16th December 2022 and the 14th January 2023.

Lisbon Mural Project

Caroline has been given a wonderful opportunity to create a large and colourful mural in the vibrant city of Lisbon .

She is currently raising funds to contribute to the materials, time and organisation required to make this wish come true. To be apart of this amazing project you can make a contribution.

750 Years of Gouda

Caroline will exhibiting as part of the 750 years celebration of Gouda at the Agnieschapel between the 30th August and the 4th September 2022. 

Malta Commission
​​March 2022

Caroline returned to Malta last week to paint a commission, "People have always been so curious about how I paint 'au plein d'air', so I thought I would share a little time-lapse video of how I build my canvas. I chose a fabulous day on Marsamxett Harbour and obtained a few admirers throughout the day.  I love to share my passion for action painting."

Atelier Experimental

Caroline is now part of the practical course 
Atelier Experimental at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes in Lisbon where she is an associate member. With the aim of complementing and professionalizing the participants, this atelier provides the necessary tools for the development of artistic projects and cultural communication, through research, reflection and practice of new openly contemporary languages.​
